Born in Grenoble in 1997, Niels is currently a student at the l’École Normale Supérieure de Paris-Saclay, which he joined after a "classe préaparatoire" in the lycée Sainte Geneviève. Trained as a biologist, he specialises in climate science. He is also a mountain enthusiast and a cinema fan. His father, a high-altitude mountain guide and film director, introduced him very early on to alpinism and filmmaking. Antarctica is particularly fascinating place to Niels. In 2013, he crossed part of Greenland on skis during winter with his father and his younger brother. On this journey he discovers the Arctic world for the first time, and a passion for the polar regions is born. His commitment to environmental sciences has inevitably led him to take part in a scientific expedition in Antarctica.
